A teen from Gwinnett County has been charged with choking his mother to death. Patrick Gibson, 15, of Norcross, has been arrested and is currently being held at the Regional Youth Detention Center in Rockdale County. According to a press release, detectives have confirmed that he has mental issues and had been in an argument with his mother, Faith Hayes, 47, about taking his medication when the dispute took place.
In an earlier press release from Gwinnett County Police Department, the incident began just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017, when police were called to the 1300 building of the Oakwood Vista Apartments in Norcross regarding a medical call. The nephew of the victim had arrived home and discovered the body. The son had fled the apartment, but was detained a short time later near the front of the apartment complex.
Police report that there were no other people inside the apartment when the dispute and subsequent homicide took place.
