Update: 1/18/2017 – statement by Gwinnett County Detention Center
The Gwinnett County Police Department sympathizes with the Hamm family and the difficult time that they are experiencing due to this tragedy. Our investigation is still ongoing, but currently no criminal charges are pending based on all of the facts and circumstances we have learned and determined thus far. At the conclusion of the investigation the full report will be sent to the District Attorney’s Office for a final decision. This is a difficult time for all parties involved in this accident and we ask for prayers and support for the families that are involved.

The woman struck by a vehicle on Christmas morning in Gwinnett County has been identified as 24- year-old Taylor Hamm of Atlanta. She is in stable condition at the hospital, according to Cpl. Deon Washington, public information officer for Gwinnett County Police Department.
Gwinnett County Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a woman who was struck by a vehicle on Lawrenceville Suwanee Road in Unincorporated Gwinnett County Christmas morning.
According to a press release from Gwinnett County Police Department, when police responded to a suspicious person call from the area at 6:40 a.m. Dec. 25, they found the victim lying in the roadway. She appeared to be the suspicious person that had been reported. She was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center by Gwinnett County Fire Department where her condition is given as critical. GCPD report that the driver has been located and no charges are pending.
The identity of the victim is unknown. She is described as a black female, light complexion, 20-30 yes old, 5’ – 5’5” tall. She was wearing green marine sweat pants, black coat and green scarf. She has a tattoo on her left collar bone : “ixvmcm.”
