A 6-year-old child was transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Sunday afternoon following a collision between a 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe and a 2013 Jeep Wrangler. The accident happened at the intersection of Highway 78 and Main Street at about Loganville Asst. City Manager Danny Roberts said that two children were taken to the hospital, one by road transportation and the 6-year-old by air ambulance. Loganville officials said the road was shut down briefly for the 6-year-old to be extricated from the vehicle and transported to the air ambulance. He said the other occupants of the vehicles received minor injuries.
Loganville Asst. Police Chief Dick Lowry said the accident is still under investigation. It is possible that charges could follow.
“We had one vehicle that failed to yield and turned left in front another vehicle,” Lowry said, adding it was the Hyundai Santa Fe that carried the mother and two children that failed to yield. Names have not been given by officials at this time, but prayers have flooded social media for all involved and especially for the child who was lifeflighted from the scene.
