WCSO Alerts: Woman was charged by hacker to get control of her computer back

The walton County Sheriff’s Office reported the following Community Alerts for the period Friday, July 29, 2016 to Monday, Aug. 1, 2016. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

Zone 1
Arrest – A man and a woman were arrested made at a residence on Hwy 138 following a dispute.

Identity Theft – Resident on Habersham Circle reported an AT&T account was opened under his name.

Fraud – Subject cashed a fraudulent check at The Grove Wine & Spirits.  Subject has been contacted by the store on several occasions.  Incident occurred on June 29, 2016.

Traffic Offense – Subject was issued a citation for Possession of Marijuana less than an Ounce in the area of the Walnut Grove Elementary School following a traffic stop.

Zone 2
Arrest – Joe B. Lester, Jr. was arrested for Violation of a Protective Order out of Newton County in the area of Alcovy St. and Glenwood Ave. following a traffic stop.

Damage to Property – Complainant on Old Monroe Madison Hwy reported damage to a gate at his business.  An unknown vehicle reportedly struck the gate, bent one of the poles and broke the lock.

Zone 3
Arrest – Subject was arrested for Driving Under the Influence at the C&D Landfill following a suspicious person complaint.

Suspicious Vehicle – Walton County deputy observed a vehicle in the cul-de-sac of the Subdivision of Whitley Way.  Two people were found sleeping in the vehicle.  They were advised to move on.

Accident – A single vehicle accident with minor injuries occurred on Hwy 83 at Windfield Subdivision.  Georgia State Patrol handled the accident.

Fraud – Resident on Queens Cemetery Road reported someone hacked her computer and was charged to get control of her computer back.

Entering Auto – Resident on Brush Creek Dr. reported his vehicle’s alarm went off.  Resident went outside and noticed a portion of the soft top on his Jeep had been unzipped.  Nothing reported missing.   A bicycle and empty tool bag were on found on location. Six juveniles were picked up near the residence.  Guardians of the juveniles were contacted.

Entering Auto – Resident on Poplar Oaks Trail in Poplar Oaks Subdivision reported his vehicle entered.  A tool bag containing a drill, sander and spray gun were taken.  The incident occurred between July 30, 2016 and August 1, 2016.

Theft Report – Resident on Blasingame Rd. reported two compressors were taken.  Incident occurred sometime July 18 2016 and July 29, 2016.

Traffic Offense – Subject was issued a citation for Driving with a Suspended License in the area of Pleasant Valley Rd. following a traffic stop.

Zone 4
Arrest – Female subject was arrested for Criminal Trespass following an incident at a residence on Mountain Creek Church Rd.

Arrest/Burglary Report – Resident on Mt. Vernon Rd. reported her residence had been entered.  The Walton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division responded.  One arrest made.
James Stovall was arrested for Burglary two counts and Entering Auto.

Arrest – Subject was arrested for an outstanding Probation Warrant at a residence on Bradley Gin Road.

Arrest – Subject was arrested for an outstanding warrant out of Clarke County at a residence on Bradley Gin Road.

Safety Check – Walton County deputies conducted a safety check on Old Athens Hwy. at the Creek.  Deputies checked for required driving criteria:  Driver’s license, vehicle registration and insurance.  No citations issued or arrests made.

Accident – A single vehicle accident occurred on Hwy 78 at Mt. Vernon Rd.  Accident was handled by Walton County Sheriff’s Office.

Zone 5
Suspicious Person – Resident on Old Hickory Pl in Providence Club Subdivision reported a black male driving a dark, Dodge van was in the area taking pictures of houses.  Walton County deputy checked the area.  No contact.

Arrest – Dontrell Woods was arrested for DUI, Driving while Unlicensed, No Proof of Insurance, Open Container, Failure to Maintain Lane, Possession of Marijuana less than an Ounce, Forgery and Giving False Name of an Officer in the area of Hwy 11 and Bold Springs Road following a traffic stop.

Arrest – Subject was arrested for an outstanding Probation warrant in the area of Hwy 11 and Parker Dr. following a traffic stop.

Juvenile Complaint – Complaint of a large party at a residence on Hidden Meadow Ln.  Walton County deputy checked area.  Party was broken up.  Juveniles were turned over to their parents.

Arrest – Joshua Beavers was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance and False Report of a Crime following an incident on Hwy 81 at Bold Springs Texaco.

Arrest – James Bramblett was arrested for Battery and Obstruction of an Officer following an incident at a resident on Tipperary Circle.

TPO Violation – Subject reported her husband on location at a resident on River Bluff Road.  in violation of Temporary Protective Order.  Walton County deputy responded.  Walton County deputy chased subject on foot.  Subject not apprehended.

Accident – An accident with minor injuries occurred on Albert Jones Dr.  Accident was handled by Georgia State Patrol.

Zone 6
Accident – A two vehicle accident with no injuries occurred on Hwy 78 at Troy Smith Road.  Accident was handled by Walton County Sheriff’s Office.

Accident – A two vehicle accident with injuries occurred on Hwy 20 at McCullers Road.  Accident was handled by Georgia State Patrol.

Suspicious Vehicle – Complainant reported being followed by a black truck.  Walton County deputy checked area.  No contact.

Suspicious Vehicle – Resident on Harris Dr. in Harrison Mill Subdivision reported being followed by an unknown vehicle.  Walton County deputy checked the area.  No contact.

Arrest – Subject was arrested for Disorderly Conduct following a dispute that originated in the City of Monroe and then moved to the County.

Arrest – Subject was arrested for DUI and Tail Light Out on Hwy 20 following a traffic stop.

Arrest – Two arrests at Centerhill Church Rd. at McCullers Road following a traffic stop. One subject was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Speeding and Parole Violation and another was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Accident – A single vehicle accident occurred on Hwy 78.  Georgia State Patrol handled the accident.

Accident – A two vehicle accident occurred on Hwy 78 at Sardis Church Rd.  Georgia State Patrol handled the accident.

Safety Check – Walton County deputies conducted a safety check on Centerhill Church Rd. at Kent Rock Rd.  Deputies checked for required driving criteria:  Driver’s license, vehicle registration and insurance.  No citations issued or arrests made.

Arrest – Two arrests as a result of a suspicious person complaint on Hwy 20.
Marcus Strayhorn was arrested for an outstanding warrant out of Stone Mountain.
Kim Beavers was arrested for an outstanding warrant out of Floyd County.

Zone 7
Damage to Property – Resident on McKinsey Ridge reported someone put toilet paper in his yard and trees.  Extra patrol requested in the area.

Fraud – Resident on Guthrie Cemetery Road reported fraudulent activity with her bank account.

Theft Report – Resident on Nunnally Farm Road reported a fiberglass boat taken.  Incident occurred sometime after July 21, 2016.

Suspicious Vehicle – Complainant reported a vehicle driving erratic and turning the lights on the vehicle on and off in the area of Walnut Ave. and Leone Ave.  It appeared the driver of the vehicle was trying to get the complainant to race.  Walton County deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle.  Driver was verbally warned against racing and driving erratic.

Trespassing – Complaint of someone trespassing at a resident on Park St.  Walton County deputy checked the area.  Contact made with subject on location.  Subject was asked to leave.

Theft Report – Resident on Greenhill Way reported his Samsung Galaxy tablet missing or stolen from the residence.  Tablet discovered missing over the past week.

Arrest – Tristan Kampsen was arrested for Battery two counts, Possession of Marijuana less than an Ounce, Obstruction of an Officer three counts and Pedestrian under the Influence following an incident that originated at D&L Stop & Shop.

Suspicious Vehicle – Complainant observed a black, Jeep Cherokee with a white male driver on Stone Walk in Brookstone Estates driving around the neighborhood slowly and was also observed walking into backyards.  Walton County deputy checked the area.  No contact.

Accident – A four vehicle accident with no injuries occurred on Hwy 81 at Centerhill Church Rd.  Accident was handled by Georgia State Patrol.

Arrest – Subject was arrested for DUI, Failure to Maintain Lane, Open Container and Possession of Alcohol by a Minor on Hwy 81 following a traffic stop.
