According to the incident report from Walton County Sheriff’s Office, the 3-year-old child found unresponsive in a pool in Loganville Monday was in foster care. Deputies were initially called to the home at about 9:16 a.m. by the foster mother when she could not find the child. She told deputies that he had first come into her bedroom at about 6:30 a.m. that morning and she had told him it was too early and to go back to bed. She said that had happened before and he would just go back to his room. However, when she got up at about 9 a.m., she found that he had not done so this time. She said she thought that the doors were locked, but it was possible a back door was not.
During the search, the foster mother began screaming from the backyard that the child was in the pool. Deputies went outside to find her with the unconscious child on the deck. A deputy attempted CPR until EMS arrived and he was transported to Clearview Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman said the official cause of death cannot be given until an autopsy has been performed. The name and address of the foster parent are not being made available by authorities at this time and no charges have been filed. Chapman said he believes the natural parent is incarcerated in another county.
Walton County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a 3-year-old child was not able to be resuscitated this morning after being discovered in a pool at the child’s home in the loganville area of Walton County. Walton County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Keith Brooks said deputies responded to a missing child call and arrived just as the child was discovered in the pool.
‘We performed CPR until EMS arrived and the child was transported to Clearview Regional Medical Center,” Brooks said, going on to confirm that the child did not survive. He said indications are that it is a tragic accident, but the incident is currently under investigation.
