UPDATE: Walton County Public Safety officials report that the road opened up at about 1 a.m. Monday morning.
Walton County Fire Rescue said that the fuel leak from a tractor trailer at Broadnax Mill Road and Broadnax Drive on May 15, 2016 is likely to block the road for some time overnight. Public safety officials and hazmat units are on the scene, according to Capt. Jeff Allen with Walton County Fire Rescue.
“Shortly after 7:30 pm, WCFR crews were called to a tractor trailer that had spilled diesel fuel from its saddle tanks. Upon arrival, crews discovered that the leak occurred while the vehicle was moving, beginning around Hodges Road until the driver noticed something wrong and pulled over near Cevera Lakes,” Allen said. “The roadway is going to be closed from Hodges Rd to Cevera Lake Drive for at least another three hours (from 11 p.m.). Access to Cevera Lakes subdivision can be made from Lancelot Ct. No access to or from Oakmont Dr, Memory Lane, Pebblebrook Lane or Lake Edmund Road. Access is going to be restricted for the duration of the cleanup up. It’s a mess. Please be patient as crews are working as quickly as possible to contain the situation and reopen the roadway.”
