A candlelight vigil was held at Meridian Park in Loganville Monday for Jaden Force, a 14-year-old who passed away after a tragic accident over the weekend. You didn’t have to know the eighth-grader to know how much he meant to the students at Loganville Middle School and the community. Hundreds of supporters, including family, friends, acquaintances, and even complete strangers, raised their candles in the air in memory of his life.
The vigil started off with a special prayer led by his close friends, followed by a powerful song that, although was not sung through a microphone, echoed emotion and grief throughout the whole park. Although many tears were shed in mourning, the atmosphere created by his classmates and companions was overall reflecting of Jaden’s bubbly and outgoing personality. People of all walks of life, young and old, gathered around the gazebo to remember Jaden, and listen to what his friends said about him.
“Jaden will always be remembered as a clumsy, goofy, kind-hearted guy,” one of his close friends recalled. Jordie Black, a member of Jaden’s youth group, remembers the moments she had with him. “Jaden made such a huge impact on everyone he came in contact with. Although I wasn’t extremely close to him, it was the little things he would do that made so many people adore him. He came to our youth group at Summit Baptist many Wednesdays. Every time he came into the building, he jumped right in with the other guys and threw the football around. He even taught my little sister, Jazmyne, how to throw a football. Jaden touched the lives of every person he met and he will never be forgotten in Loganville. Rest in peace Jaden Force.”
Supporters kept their candles burning the entire time, to signify that Jaden will never be forgotten, and will be remembered so dearly. When the night came to a close, candles were held up once more, shining light on such a dark and unfortunate accident; furthermore honoring the life of a boy who not only touched, but changed the lives of many.
A Facebook page, Remembering Jaden Force, has been established for people to share their memories of Jaden. A Memorial Service will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2016, at Summit Baptist Church on Highway 81 in Loganville.
