Walton County Empty Stocking Fund gears up for Holiday Season

It’s that time of the year already and some families are worrying about how they are going to make it through the holiday season. The Empty Stocking Fund of Walton County is gearing up to hopefully ease some of those worries and deliver cheer to deserving families in Walton County.

“We are truly thankful each and every year for how this community supports our effort – individuals, the schools, local businesses, it has just been great,” said Kristy Peters, a member of the ESF board of directors. “Last year we had more than 100 volunteers help us distribute more than 500 boxes of food to those among us who needed help this holiday season. And we hope to be able to brighten up the holidays again this year for as many of our residents in need as we can.”

ESF is a certified 501 c3 charity exempt organization that has performed an annual food drive and distribution for 35 years and this year will be no different.

Applications for those who need help will be accepted from:

•9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, November 17 at the Senior Center in Social Circle, 138 W. Hightower Trail, Social Circle

•9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, November 18 at the Nowell Recreation Center, 201 W. Spring St., Monroe
