“I’m the mom and seven of them are my daughters. The other is my niece, but she’s been with me forever so it’s like eight daughters,” said Merrill of Sisters Family Restaurant in Loganville.

Merrill said she and her partner in the restaurant, Stewart Hamilton, opened the restaurant in August last year after the lease ran out on the Huddle House they were at, just up the road. Sisters is a distinct family restaurant with decor much in keeping with an old sixties diner.

“We really love being in Loganville and working with my daughters daily,” Merrill said. “We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner with breakfast as our speciality. We run a lot of daily specials of home cooked meals and serve lots of vegetables, great wings, and many other items. We have meatloaf, burgers, everything from steak and shimp to, of course, our breakfast items.”

“Connie does a really good job – a great job – with the menu,” Hamilton said. “When we were at Huddle House we were bound by their menu they gave us. She has done a great job with our menu here.”

Being a family restaurant, Merrill and Hamilton take their commitment to the community very much to heart as well. The jacket of a Loganville firefighter up on the wall bears testament to that.

“We’re also involved in a lot of our community schools, sports and also Shriners, everything we can be,” she said. “Every Tuesday night we have a Cruise-in and you should see the parking lot – it is full.”

“We’re having a big Valentine’s Day dinner here on Saturday,” Merrill said. “We welcome the community to come on in.”

“We have the weekly classic car show and we’re looking into having a bike show in the spring when it warms up a little,” Hamilton said. “This is a family restaurant, with a family environment, and we welcome them all. So come on in.”

DSC_3985Sisters Family Restaurant is located at 6550 Highway 20, just short of the Gwinnett County line. It is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week. You can find out what the daily special is by following them on Facebook.
