Obituary: Lewis Cornelius Cown,Sr., 93, of Loganvile

Mr. Lewis Cornelius Cown, Sr., age 93 of Loganville, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014. Funeral Services were held on Thursday, October 2, 2014 in the Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home, Loganville. Rev. Patrick Faulhaber officiated. Burial followed at Rest Haven Cemetery in Monroe.

Mr. Cown was retired from the Farmers Home Administration in Monroe and had touched the lives of many families in Walton and surrounding counties. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s Degree of Agriculture. He also served as a 2nd Lieutenant Air Force Pilot during WWII and remained in the reserves until 1955. After his service, Mr. Cown became an active member of the American Legion Post 233 in Loganville. He loved farming and being with his family. He was the son of the late John A. & Ruth B. Cown of Loganville. Mr. Cown was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Mrs. Vivian Cown, Brother-in-law, William D. Smith of Tucker, Daughter-in-law, Mrs. Barbara S. Cown of Stone Mountain, and Great Granddaughter, Victoria Brown. He is survived by his Sons & Daughters-in-law: Lewis C. Cown, Jr., Stone Mountain; John F. & Theresa A. Cown, Monroe; Robert M. & Brenda E. Cown, Loganville; Brother & Sister-in-law: Norris A. & Sara Nell Cown, Monroe; Sister-in-law: Gloria M. Smith, Lawrenceville; Grandchildren: Carol C. & Donnie Godwin, Lisa C. & Paul Brown, Jennifer C. & Jeff Griffith, Carrie C. & Jeff Collins, Lori C. & Brandon Townley; 6 Great Grandchildren; Several Nieces & Nephews.
