Monroe Local columnist, blogger, attorney and now published author, Lori Duff, has a “Hot New Release” on Amazon.

“Mismatched Shoes and Upside Down Pizza,”  was originally the title of one of her blogs and is now the title of an Amazon bestseller in the Humor and Entertainment Essays category on Amazon’s best-sellers list. It was only released on Dec. 11, and by Friday 13th – lucky for some – it had reached No. 14 overall in the humor category.

Duff is thrilled by the early success of her first foray into the  book publishing world.

“Holy Moley, I’m a hot new release on Amazon,” she announced to her friends on Facebook, before going on to note some of the other authors on Amazon’s hot new releases. “I cannot get over who is on the same page! Tina Fey, David Sedaris, Sarah Silverman, Norah Ephron, Mindy Kaling.”

A long-time Walton County resident, Duff is a practicing attorney. The managing partner of Jones & Duff, LLC, Duff says it is a profession that is necessary “in order to finance and support her writing habit.” Her blog covers life in general, based on a series of events and opinions from her own life. Her humor is often self deprecating and appears to strike a cord with many. She says the reason for her writings is simple – to make herself and other people laugh.

“Life is too short not to laugh at every available opportunity. My goal is to make myself laugh — and hopefully you will laugh along with me,” she says.

“Mismatched Shoes and Upside Down Pizza” can be purchased on Amazon here. It is only available in the Kindle edition right now, but Duff says she is working on the print edition. You don’t necessarily have to own a Kindle to purchase it, it can be read on any computer or mobile device.

Duff lives in Loganville, is married to retired public safety office Mike Duff, and has two children – all often a source for her writing. She also writes a column “Legalese,” for Monroe Local, which Duff says is meant to “de-mystify and humanize the court system.”

Duff’s column can be read on Monroe Local every Monday, and her blogs every Tuesday.
